On May 16, 2017, Frederique Constant celebrated the groundbreaking of the second building. Frederique Constant remains optimistic and continues to implement a sales-driven strategy. The main brands have distinct themes: Frederique Constant as ‘Expand Accessible Luxury’ and Alpina as ‘More Growth’. In early 2017, Frederique Constant achieved single-digit growth, and the Group performed particularly well after the Basel International Watch and Jewellery Show.
Frederique Constant has been loyal to its mission since its founding in the late 1980s, which is the root cause of the group’s exponential growth. When 2006 needed to expand its production base, Frederique Constant chose Plan-Les-Ouates. The building is divided into four floors and covers a total area of 3,200 square meters. It integrates parts production, movement assembly, watch assembly and quality control.
In accordance with the strategy implemented by Frederique Constant, Peter Stas, Group President and co-founder, hopes to foster more growth opportunities. Therefore, the current plant will be expanded by 3,000 square meters, and the production capacity will almost double. The second building will be completed in 24 months and will be divided into four floors to meet the expansion needs of the main production department. By that time, the annual output will increase from 150,000 to 250,000, and the number of employees will also double to 250.
